RESEARCH

The Wind Hunter is the result of more than 15 years of research and studies about separating air and space. Below, some documents which give credits to the studies we conducted and introduce the companies we collaborated with.

1998 - FIRST FEASIBILITY PROTOTYPE PRODUCTION

Since 2011, we have done many modelings, simulations cycles, empirical calculations, and system optimizations. The first feasibility study is the result of four studies through the following points : - The collection and summary of the existing literature
- CFD simulations
- Construction of a scale model at Thermoscreens Laboratory, London
- Empirical calculations.
It confirms the possibility to create a safe area through the use of air curtains.

1998 CTI-KTI LABEL

We formed a research consortium with 4 Swiss partners (Sarna Sarnafin Sa; Helios Ventilatoren Sa; Herren Freres Sa; Fischer Sa) to support the idea : the "Air Boundaries" system obtains the CTI-KTI label from the Swiss technical commission. It allowed us to keep working on the research.

1999. 2°FEASIBILITY STUDY (EPFL)

We worked on several CFD simulations cycles to testify the following points :

- We needed to confirm the Ove Arup engineering 2D conclusions, in order to use them in 3D CFD simulations. Both 2D and 3D CFD simulations are confirmed;

- The possibility to use another type of fan;

- The possibility to use others configuration system typologies

2008 - FIRST AIR BUBBLE ARCHITECTURE ("AIR BOUNDARIES")

During his thesis "Air and Architecture", Michele Boni introduces the first conception of the Air Bubble. It is made by using a 4 meters long cube with 40 tangential fans inside.

2011 - 2013 - FROM THE AIR BUBBLE TO THE AIR DROP

Since 2011, we have done many modelings, simulations cycles, empirical calculations, and system optimizations. We worked under the supervision of professor T. Gomez, engineer and member of the d'Alembert Institute (part of Paris VI college).
The research progressed as follow :
- The "Air Boundaries" became the Wind Hunter. The system is simpler, stronger, more efficient.
- We have been able to ascertain the connection between the fans' power and the area's protecting size.
- We identified the variables which control the turbulences when the air comes into the system.
We also determined which parameter increase the wind's protection efficiency.
